Philip is a Senior Partner and Co-Founder of The Vistria Group (“Vistria”). Vistria is a next generation private investment firm with approximately $10BN in committed capital and operates at the intersection of purpose and profit. With a focus on the Education, Healthcare and Financial Services sectors, Vistria partners with middle-market businesses that are passionate about growth and committed to the community. Philip co-leads Vistria’s Knowledge and Learning Solutions Practice. Currently, he serves on the Board of Directors of MGT, Really Great Reading, ESS, Edmentum, and MSI Information Services and is a former board member of FullBloom and Penn Foster.
He also serves as a board member for the University of Chicago Medical Center, P33 Chicago, Window to the World Communications, Inc. ((WTTW) Chicago’s PBS Affiliate) and Innovation for Equity. Previously, he served as commissioner (Mayoral appointee) with the Chicago’s Community Development Commission and as a trustee and member of the Executive Committee for the Roxbury Latin School in Boston.
Prior to joining Vistria, Philip was a Principal at a private equity fund with approximately $6.0 Billion in assets under management. There he focused on investments in education companies. He previously served as a director for Educate, Inc., Educate Online and Infilaw Holding, LLC. Previously, Philip worked at Knowledge First, Thomas Wiesel Partners and investment firms McCown De Leeuw & Co., and Musa Capital Advisors Ltd. (Kingdom Holdings). He started his career as an investment banker with Morgan Stanley & Co. Philip received an A.B. from Harvard University and an M.B.A. from the Stanford Graduate School of Business.
